The UNESCO Chair for “Human development, security and the fight against transnational crime and illicit trafficking in cultural property” was established at Neapolis University in 2023.
The Chair aims to be actively involved in transnational research activities, and to encourage the participation of the academic community and civil society in the debate on the challenges of globalization, in particular development, security, and the fight against transnational crime.
The Chair plans to develop scientific publications, working papers and innovative MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses), to provide university teaching, to organise and support events, and to foster international collaborations and collaborations with the local and civil society regarding the above thematic areas.
Director of the UNESCO Chair is Dr. Georgios Pavlidis, Associate Professor at the School of Law, who is also a holder of a Jean Monnet Chair funded by the European Union.
