Climate change does not only affect the environment but is also closely linked to social transformations. UNESCO contributes to the implementation of effective strategies of adaptation and mitigation, reduction of gas emissions and development of green technologies. “UNESCO Climate Change Initiative” is a programme launched in 2009, in the framework of the UN Strategy “Acting on Climate Change: The UN System Delivering as One”.
