39th Pancyprian UNESCO Associated Schools (ASPnet) Symposium

The 39th Pancyprian UNESCO Associated Schools (ASPnet) Symposium will be held on Thursday and Friday, 17 – 18 March 2016, at Agros, on the topic of “Troodos Geopark:  Geological, Natural and Cultural Heritage”.

20 public and private schools of primary and secondary education from the Cyprus UNESCO Associated Schools (ASPnet) Network and 4 UNESCO Associated schools from the Attica Network will participate in the proceedings of the Symposium.

During the Symposium, the students will have the opportunity to participate in interactive – experiential workshops such as:  making mud bricks, making drystone, making cosmetics using natural materials, preparing traditional dishes, a democratic structured dialogue workshop, etc. In addition, the Network members will have the chance to present and discuss their projects on topics such as endemic plants and herbs of Cyprus and the Troodos Mountain Range, medieval bridges of Cyprus, byzantine and post-byzantine churches of Troodos, Troodos nature trails, gastronomy routes in the Troodos region, vine products etc.

The inaugural ceremony of the Symposium will be addressed by:  Mr. Michalis Constantinides, President of the Agros Community Council and President of the Troodos Development Company, Mrs. Zoe Odysseos-Polydorou, Headmistress of Lanitio Lyceum, Mr. Pavlos Dapolas, Secondary Education Inspector and National Coordinator of the Cyprus UNESCO Associated Schools (ASPnet) Network, Mrs. Loukia Loizou Hadjigavriel, President of the Cyprus National Commission for UNESCO and Mrs Ioanna Panayiotou, Environment Commissioner.

Symposium Organizers:  Lanitio Lyceum, Apostolon Petrou kai Pavlou Lyceum, Ayios Ioannis Lyceum, Apostolos Loucas Lyceum (Kolossi).
